Orlando Utilities CommissionTour Orlando Utilities Commission’s (OUS) Stanton 1 (1987) and Stanton 2 (1996) Coal-Fired units capable of over 450 MW of Generation each. Both units are equipped with state-of-the-art pollution control equipment and the site is a zero-water discharge facility. Weather permitting the tour will also include the scenic view from the top of the power plant building.

This is a working power plant. Hard Hats, safety glasses, and ear plugs will be provided as needed, though attendees may bring their own. Attire should be Business Casual (jeans or pants). Portions of the tour will be in non-air-conditioned spaces. All attendees are required to wear closed toe footwear appropriate for walking on sand, gravel, and grates. Purses and bags may need to be left in the power plant meeting room or bus during the tour.

FMPA Municipal PowerTour the Florida Municipal Power Association Cane Island Power Park. There are three combined cycle units and a simple cycle combustion turbine of a variety of sizes and models.

This is a working power plant. Hard Hats, safety glasses, and ear plugs will be provided as needed, though attendees may bring their own. Attire should be Business Casual (jeans or pants). A significant part of the tour will be outdoors in sunny, hot, and humid weather. All attendees are required to wear closed toe footwear appropriate for walking on sand, gravel, and grates. Purses and Bags may be left in the power plant meeting room during the tour.

Tampa Electric South Shore Microgrid

TecoThe tour starts at the Southshore Bay housing development. This neighborhood serves 37-homes utilizing the Emera Technologies’ BlockEnergy. The BlockEnergy utilizes rooftop solar, energy storage and smart distributed controls throughout the community. The tour will then continue at the Tampa Electric Big Bend Modernization project, which re-powered the Big Bend Unit 1 with state-of-the-art combined cycle technology and eliminated coal as that fuel’s unit. The tour will also include the Tampa Electric Floating Solar and Clean Energy Center, and a stop at a local plaza with several fast food offerings for lunch.
