Update on Acceptance of Technical Papers

We received a record number of almost 1600 conference papers for the 2013 General Meeting (GM).  This represents about a 60% increase above the 2012 GM submissions, and 2012 was the first time we had ever exceeded 1000 paper submissions.  In order to maintain a manageable number of paper presentations for the conference, the PES Technical Council Technical Sessions Committee agreed upon a limit of papers that each Technical Committee could accept for the 2013 GM and upon a ranking system for choosing the final papers accepted.  This allowed for a more selective acceptance criterion of papers for this year, but will result in approximately the same number of conference papers that were accepted for the 2012 GM.  As a result of these decisions, it is understandable that many authors are disappointed that their paper was not accepted for presentation at the 2013 GM.  And while the decision on paper limitations made by the Technical Sessions Committee was difficult, it was necessary to achieve a balanced program for the 2013 General Meeting.  If you have any comments or questions regarding reviewed papers or status of a paper, please email Maria Proetto with the IEEE-PES staff, This email address is being protected from spambots.
